All thanks to the well advertised weekend sale.

But gosh it's so laggy. Not to where I'm teleporting all over the screen, but enough to make it pretty unenjoyable. I'm getting anywhere from 15-25fps and about 50ms.

Anyone mind helpin me out? :P

My rates are:
rate 100000 (tried 20000 and 999999)
cl_cmdrate 100
cl_updaterate 100
fps_max 100

Comp specs:
HP
AMD (I know) Athlon 7750duo 2.70ghz
4gb
NVIDIA GeForce 6150e nForce 430

think rate should be 30k.... i think.. lol

sensivity?

source is easier than 1.6 btw :)
you'll be amazed how much faster game play is, not to mention the shock when you first throw nades and get flashed...no turning around anymore hahah.

Yeah I noticed the flashes haha. And the physics are pretty cool.

It's just hard to experience the qualities of the game due to how laggy I am. Next time I'm on I'll work my rates again, but I honestly believe I just need a better computer. We'll see.

What about sensitivity?

You could turn down the graphics if you haven't already. One big thing to turn down is the Dynamic Lighting. You set that to off and it will speed up the game considerably on older cards.

Also, try setting cl_interpolate to 0. It will make people seem to "teleport" a little more, but it shows you more accurately where they are if they are lagging at all.

How do I do the first two things you mentioned?

Forgive my ignorance.

Oh, I thought your screen was super sketchy, and teleporting, maybe the sensitivity at which you were playing was too high. Haha...guess not.

misread!

Go to Options -> Video -> Advanced

All the graphics options are there. Definitely check the dynamic lighting settings. I know I had to turn them down when I had a 6800GT, so that would probably help you a lot with an embedded 6150 (Playing on a laptop I'm guessing?)

Nah it's a desktop. xp

I'll do that next time I'm on. Turning the graphix quality down made a different, but it could still be better.

this mightjust be you having a bad conection to our server. Also try resting steam that seems to help me sometimes.

Well it happens on any server I go to, and I've tried restarting. :(

Turning my dynamics down didn't do much. So far the only thing that's helped has been turning down the quality, but it's still a little laggy and my FPS hasn't gone any where.

I noticed that no matter what I change my rate to, it changes right back to 30000. I know that's not a good rate, so could that have something to do with it? What can I do to unlock the fixed rate and make it what I want it, ie 200000?

Make sure that your Steam connection settings are the same as your ACTUAL connection speed. I learned the hard way that incorrectly guessing my connection speed (I thought it was better than it was) will cause connection problems with any and all servers you run into.

Holy mackeral...YOU got Source?! Bout time!
