Hey.. before i became a christian i did some really dumb things... nothing im proud of probably doing everything wrong i don't really wana go into detail with any of it
but i'll go into some detail why i became a christian a few weeks ago i saw a very close friend die and it got me thinking started goin to church trying to change alot of things after a while of going to church meeting some new people that were nice and not looking for anything in return I accepted Christ as my savior and now im trying to do the rite thing i guess and not fall back into old habbits

"and not fall back into old habbits" as a word of advice. If you try to change in your own strength you will fail. As most of us know from experience. You can never be without sin while living in this world and most likely you will continue to struggle with things. maybe even some of the same things you did before. I am not saying this to disappoint you in any way, Just that because you said you have become saved recently and alot of people get the idea that they can now do things on their own and all if fine and dandy.

Well, It isn't. You will find things to be harder actually.. especially if you do try and serve the Lord,As there is always an opposistion to those that do. But mind you, I say this to encourage you to rely on Christ as your total and complete source of strength. He is the best foundation and support for you. Even during those hard times,that will come, He is there for you and will help you if you go to Him and rely on Him.

I still struggle with wanting to do things on my own or thinking I have the ability to beat a certain sin. Well I get reminded very quickly that I can't and need to go to Him.

I am deeply sorry for your loss.

As DarkLegend said, nobody can do the Christian life on their own. Stay plugged in with your church, being around other Christians, especially spiritually older ones is really helpful for growing! And to let you know, we have a prayer section, and there are plenty of us that would love to pray with you outside of the forum if you have non-public prayer requests!
